Shape Digital signs partnership with TotalEnergies EP Brasil

In the initial phase of the project, a 5% reduction in the production unit’s total emissions is expected

With the aim of improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Shape Digital, a digital solutions provider, has signed a contract with TotalEnergies EP Brasil to implement its new digital platform for energy optimization and emissions reduction, called Shape Aura. The initial module of the solution, designed for the gas compression system, is expected to reduce around 5% of the total emissions of the FPSO Cidade de Caraguatatuba production unit, which is operated in the Lapa field, Santos Basin, in the Brazilian pre-salt. The Lapa field is operated by TotalEnergies EP Brasil (45%), in partnership with Repsol Sinopec Brasil (25%) and Shell Brasil (30%).

“This digital tool will complement the design modifications implemented to reduce the field’s CO2 emissions, in line with our global goal of reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions from our operated facilities by more than 40% by 2030,” said Jean-Baptiste Dupuy, Director of Operated Assets, TotalEnergies EP Brasil.

Shape Aura applies Shape’s Virtual Engineering concept, which combines engineering expertise and Artificial Intelligence to optimize and automate technical decision-making for industrial operation and maintenance actions. This system has an end-to-end nature, encompassing real-time data capture and processing, generation of recommendations for optimal operating parameters, management of the implementation of these recommendations and, finally, continuous monitoring of the tool’s impact in terms of energy efficiency and GHG emissions. The solution will be used directly by the offshore O&M team, ensuring rapid response and continuous optimization, while providing visibility to onshore stakeholders.

Digital solutions will play a key role in decarbonization and energy transition, according to Felipe Baldissera, VP of Energy at Shape Digital: “Shape has always been focused on developing digital solutions for cost reduction, increased operational efficiency and safety. Now, with Shape Aura, we are using our software, AI and industrial expertise to create solutions focused on sustainability. The digital tools are “CAPEX-Free”, with a low cost per CO2 avoided and quick to implement, with great potential to accelerate the decarbonization of industrial plants, not just in oil and gas,” concludes the executive.
